Coconuts The “All-Giving Tree”

Coconuts The “All-Giving Tree”

The coconut palm is known as “Kalpavriksha'' in ancient Indian texts and is considered “the tree that supplies all that is needed to live”, and rightly so. Every part of the coconut palm is useful. The coconut is actually a seed which is germinated through three pores at the base of the tree. The palm can produce up to 10,000 nuts in its lifetime. Not only do I find it fascinating that the coconut water is very close to blood plasma and has been used as a blood plasma substitute, but the palm tree trunk acts like a very long water filter that gets deposited into the nut at the top of the tree. It takes nine months to filter each quart of water. I find the coconut palm as a perfect invention created by God. It’s simply amazing how nature is intricately designed to sustain itself. According to Anthony Williams in his book, Life Changing Foods, he states that the spiritual lesson of a coconut palm tree is that it possesses wisdom of survival by quickly losing its coconuts during a storm if it feels vulnerable. I can really relate to this with my own personal issues when dealing with difficult relationships. “When life gets stormy, we may have to let go of what’s most precious to us and it can feel like the end of the world. But in the end, we are OK, when the sun comes back out and the wind diminishes.”

And so the miracle of coconut water, meat, oil and cream heals the body in magnificent ways and leads me to believe that this is one of my top superfoods to incorporate every day into your lifestyle.

The coconut cream and oil are raw saturated fats that the body can metabolize efficiently and convert into energy quickly. With that said, coconut cream cannot be stored as fat in the body, it needs to be burned up immediately which increases metabolism. Also, the oil works in a partnership with Omega 3 fatty acids which helps the body use them more efficiently. The oil also increases the speed of the thyroid and it supports cardiovascular health and does not increase cholesterol. Some of the constituents of coconut oil is that it contains mostly medium-chain fatty acids which works well with a keto type diet. Using the oil while doing any cooking is another easy way to incorporate this into your diet whether it be a salad or stir frying veggies in a wok. Other benefits of the oil is that it improves digestion and absorption of vitamins and amino acids. It also contains antiviral, and anti-fungal properties to fight off viruses and it lessens symptoms of hypoglycemia. The oil also contains the most lauric acid of any plant which can help with balancing hormones.

The coconut water also has substantial benefits. I incorporate coconut water into my regular water that I drink every day. Because the water is naturally sweet, I only consume about 1 cup of coconut water a day. But the benefits are numerous. One, which I find extremely important is that it benefits neurotransmitter support. Coconut water is worth the extra effort since it can be used to prevent insomnia and some sleep disorders according to Anthony Williams. Coconut water also nourishes and rehydrates the body and there have been studies showing that coconut water improves muscle size. I like to use it because I am prone to kidney stones and coconut water alleviates the pain of kidney stones but it also stops the production of bad calcium in the kidneys.

Look at how many benefits there are to coconuts! It just about works on all major organ systems of the body. I also consider the coconut a Crown Chakra enhancer. From the top, down, the coconut and the coconut palm tree supports us in every way, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. You can easily Grow Your Glow with the coconut. Try looking at a picture of a palm tree with some coconuts on it. Try drinking some coconut water and meditate on its clean taste, then sit, with the image of leaning against a palm tree, listening to the nearby, ocean and become a palm tree with its relaxing qualities as it moves in the breeze. Its rooted deeply in the sandy soil. Feel the breeze lift your branches as they dance in the wind and spread that energy throughout the top of your head. Feel your Heal with Coconut.
